Logistics” was initially a military-based term used in reference to how military personnel obtained, stored, and moved equipment and supplies. The term is now used widely in the business sector, particularly by companies in the manufacturing sectors, to refer to how resources are handled and moved along the supply chain.

The increasing intricacy of supplying companies with the materials and resources they need, along with the global expansion of supply chains, has led to a need for specialists known as supply chain logisticians this services now is provided by the forwarder

Understanding Logistics in Management and Business

Logistics in simple terms, is to transfer the right amount of resources in a timely manner, deliver them to the right location in the right condition, and deliver them to local or international customers.

Freight is the movement of goods  of any kind, any weight and any size from a place to another either local or International transportation services of: Air, Sea & Land  depending on the Carrier Transportation Tool Capacity .

• Cargo word gives the same meaning of Freight word.

• Shipment word is the official technical  term for the Goods .

1. The Shipper (Customer)
Shipper:

The Shipper is the party who own the shipment at origin and send it  to the destination station.

Consignee:

The Consignee is the party  who receive the shipment at the destination and become then its owner.

The above also can be named as Customer or Client but the official & technical party name is: Shipper.

2. Carrier

Carriers are the transportation companies whom own and operate the transportation facilities which are :Airplanes, Ocean Vessels and Road Trucks & Trains to transport the shipments.

3. Freight Forwarder

Freight Forwarder is the intermediate party who link the Shipper with the Carrier and facilitates the shipment movement from the agreed pick-up point to the agreed delivery point.

Customs Clearance is mandatory Government requirement at Port of Origin and Port of Destination to Export & Import any shipment.

Freight Forwarder is also named as: Logistics Service Company.
